Who is it for?
The COTS course is for new entrant/operatives who are looking to start a career within the scaffolding industry and for those wishing to renew their CISRS cards.
All delegates must have passed the Current CSCS Health, Safety & Environment Touch Screen Test (within last 2 years).
What will you learn?
This course is designed to provide all new entrants and labourers with an appreciation of general site safety, and how to work safely with scaffolding and access equipment and safe method of manual handling.
It will also ensure that existing operatives are up to date, as scaffolding labourers will need to repeat the course every five years before renewing their card. A COTS Trainee card needs to be renewed after 18 months.
How will I be assessed?
All delegates will have to successfully pass the End of Course Test Paper and practical assessment.
This is a pass/ fail assessment
What do I get for completing?
- Upon completion of course and successful completion of the test you will receive a CISRS Certificate of training.
- Once you have successfully passed the course, those who have passed a CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test within the last 2 years will be able to apply for their CISRS Scaffolding Labourer or CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card to be updated to reflect this training element.
This will be carried out as part of the course administration and incurs a charge (£26.50 per application to cover the standard CITB card application cost) which is included within the course pricing.
What do I need to bring?
You will be required to wear some PPE equipment. Please check course specification for full details of PPE and Workwear requirements.
